Stained glass
Time: 3-4 hours
Cost: $300 includes materials for a 4-5” piece
Scope: I will teach you to design, cut, foil, solder, clean, and patina a piece you can take home with you. Have an idea of what you want to make and what colors you like. If you look at patterns, be aware bullshit AI patterns exist, straight lines are always easier than curves, and super small pieces are the bane of my existence.
Wood turning
Time: 4+ hours
Cost: $250
Scope: Choose a piece of wood from my hoarding shelf and make a bowl. I will demonstrate how to hold the gauge, what shapes are preferable, and how to make a foot that will stay in the chuck without flying out and hitting you. You will cut the outside of the bowl and sand to 400 grit, then cut the inside of the bowl and sand. A food-safe, high gloss, matte, or waterproof finish will be applied according to future usage.
Requirement: You will wear a face shield cos my insurance doesn’t cover a hunk of wood breaking your face at 800rpm.
Sewing
Time: 1+ hours
Cost: $75 for embroidery, TBD for machine sewing
Embroidery scope: Come with an idea of what you want to sew, eg a cat, plant, house, duck, flowers, whatever. Choose a background fabric, I’ll sketch a design for you, teach basic stitches, and supply too many colors of embroidery floss.
Machine sewing scope: If you have an item of clothing you want to repair, shorten, or otherwise change, email me and we will discuss
Beading
Time: 2 hours
Cost: $150+ includes materials
Scope: Decide on earrings, bracelet, necklace, bag charm, or something else my brain can’t think of at the moment. All beads I have will be available, from 11/0 seed beads to vintage rhinestones, plastic sushi pieces to amethyst chips. I will supply clasps, head pins, elastic or thread, needles, earring hooks, and whatever else you may need
Linocut printing
Time: 3 hours
Cost: $200 includes materials
Scope: I will supply a 4×6 sheet of rubber [not linoleum… it’s just a traditional name], carving tools, inking tools, and paper or fabric to print on. Also bandaids if necessary. Again, come with an idea of what you want to make, and we’ll go from there
